ExtraWood is expanding its Titan collection with co-extruded WPC stair boards featuring a closed visible edge. The specially designed profile combines the natural wood appearance of Titan decking boards with a practical solution for steps and deck edge finishing.
One Profile – Two Applications
The main feature of the new WPC stair board is its specially designed profile. While conventional WPC decking boards have installation grooves along their sides, the stair board features a closed visible edge on one side and a mounting groove for concealed fixing on the other.
This makes the profile suitable for two applications:
- Stair steps: The closed profile side creates a neat, finished front edge of each step.
- Deck edge finishing: Along exposed deck edges, the profile provides a clean finish without an additional finishing angle.
Closed Visible Edge – A Clean Finish Without Additional Trim
With conventional WPC decking boards, the side mounting groove often remains visible along exposed edges. Additional finishing angles or trim profiles are commonly used to cover these areas.
The new ExtraWood WPC stair board offers a practical alternative. Its closed visible edge conceals the profile opening and creates a continuous, neatly finished appearance.

Solid WPC Profile with Nanotech Shield Protection
The new WPC stair boards are part of the ExtraWood Titan collection and feature a solid HDM-WPC profile. The high-density mineral WPC core provides a stable foundation for the board.
The co-extruded surface is fully covered with an additional protective layer called Nanotech Shield. This durable polymer coating helps protect the board against moisture, stains and weathering, contributing to long-lasting surface performance.

Perfectly Matched with Titan Decking Boards
One of the main advantages of the new stair boards is their compatibility with standard WPC decking boards from the Titan collection.
The stair boards and decking boards are coordinated in colour and wood-grain appearance. This creates a consistent design across the entire outdoor area, from the main decking surface to the steps and exposed edges.
The stair board forms the visible finished edge, while the matching decking board completes the remaining surface. This allows stairs and deck edges to blend naturally into the overall decking design.
Creating WPC Decking Steps: Approximately 305 mm Step Depth
To create a decking step, the WPC stair board can be combined with a matching Titan decking board.
Example step depth calculation:
- WPC stair board: 150 mm
- Gap between boards: 5 mm
- WPC decking board: 150 mm
Total step depth: approximately 305 mm.
The closed visible edge of the stair board forms the front of the step, while the second decking board completes the tread surface. The actual construction and fixing must follow the requirements of the supporting substructure and the installation instructions.
Concealed Clip Installation
The WPC stair boards are installed using the side mounting groove and a concealed clip fixing system. This means no screw heads remain visible on the decking surface.
Suitable starter and end clips, together with WPC fixing clips, are used for installation. A consistent 5 mm gap is maintained between the stair board and the adjoining decking board.
The closed front edge remains visible, while the fixings are concealed within the side profile.
